before dd was born, my son turned 6 and they stopped my parenting payment and put me on newstart but because my hubby earned too much i got nothing but they still wanted me to actively look for work. we live in a rural town and there is no after school care so i could only work 9-3 and nobody had that type of work so i was doing all the work for no pay.
I called them, cancelled my newstart payment as i didn't see the point of jumping through all their hoops for nothing, turns out that after i cancelled my newstart we were entitled to more Family Tax because i wasn't receiving anything so we were up more money.
when hubby lost his job i applied for payments and they put me back on newstart and they wanted me to look for work until i turned up at centrelink for the appointment and the guy saw i was heavily pregnant, he ticked a few boxes and i got paid the next day.

Sometimes you get a really helpful person who sorts out all the issues and problems and its a relief.

We are baby love users, huggies were terrible, our dd had nappy rash all the time (which we finally linked to the nappies) and they leaked.
we tried several different brands (aldi- thin and smelt, snugglers- hated, coles brand- nappy rash) and found baby love the best, no leaks or nappy rash.
where we live the cheapest huggies are $33 whereas baby love are $25

It really trial and error to find the brand that suits your baby and budget

- meal plan before going shopping that way you only buy what you need and you have less wastage, nappies are cheaper in bulk and if you shop around you can find them cheaper.

- small amounts paid weekly on bills are easier to manage then one large bill

- set up a christmas account with a bank where you deposit a small amount into each week/fortnight, you can only access at a particular time (usually 1 month each year like christmas time) or if you have an emergency situation

woombie! it saved my sanity and my sleep. we went from little to no sleep for weeks until we tried one that we were given and now we have 6-8 hours sleep and if the woombie isn't used or is dirty we go back to no sleep so i make sure its clean.
we have a love to dream - not tight enough and her hands move too much for her to stay asleep), a kiddopotamus - yet to try as we just got it from ebay and it in the wash, 2 grobags but the woombie is the best.

ebay was great to look at all the swaddles, we just entered swaddle into the search bar and googled each brand for more info.
we got 4 wraps for $22 and each was worth more.
