I have an 8 week old girl and live in Alberta (which means a 30 degree temp different isn't unusual lol). I have no idea how I should be dressing or covering her at night! I've been putting her in a onesie or sleeper, swaddling her arms with a receiving blanket (she gets startled easily and wakes up if I don't) and putting a blanket over her. A lot of people telle I shouldn't put a blanket over her but I'm not sure how else to regulate her temperature. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I'm not so sure about those sleep sacs either. 1) her arms would be out 2) don't know how well it would adjust to keeping her warm/cool 3) might be hard to change diapers during the night

I had my little girl on July 10th and I originally wanted to have a baby shower right after. Things came up and we were really busy so that didn't happen. It's now a month later and I'm not sure if it'll be too late to have it in a couple weeks. If so, how do I go about it, cause so many people have already sent gifts? Any suggestions?

I know it's early but I had my baby yesterday morning, and by this evening I'm feeling totally discouraged. At the hospital they checked the baby's latch and said she's feeding good.. But today at home seems to be a different story. My nipples hurt like crazy and I don't think the baby is getting much. It seem like I can feed her forever and she is trying to get more right after. I tried substituting with formula today to see if it would satisfy her more.. And it did until it made her poopy and pukey. I have an appt with the nurse tomorrow but I don't know if I should just try again tonight or try formula again.
Ps I also tried to pump and didn't get even one drop (maybe I gave up too soon?)

Well, here's an update. It turns out that I just was not getting enough milk and she also had really high jaundice levels. That turned out to be a horrible cycle because she was always hungry and not flushing out the jaundice fast enough. After spending the night in the hospital with her under a heat lamp and giving her regular feedings of the breast milk that I could supply along with formula, she has been getting much better!
Feeding is still a bit of an issue. She wants to eat quite often and I still cannot produce enough milk (pumping yields me only about an ounce). She also has very little patience and seems to realize that it's much easier for her to take a bottle rather than the boob. Because of this I have been giving her mostly formula which makes me feel kinda bad but I'm not sure how else to go about it.
Sigh..
*sorry for the long update.. Just getting this off my chest I guess!
So I've been taking the castor oil little by little do you think it will still work? I took half of the 2oz bottle about 2hrs ago blended it come coke. and nothings happening!!! so I just blended the rest of it in coke and drinking it now. I hope this works :)
