My sister was told at 20wks that her baby was a boy - and 20wks later, out popped a little girl! (or should I say, a BIG girl - she was 9lbs12oz!)

When I when in for my U/S the women said they can only be 100% sure if they see boy parts. If it's a girl there's a chance they could get it wrong.

i know and i was told that too but have been seeing that it's mistaken sometimes because the girl parts are swollen and appear to be boy parts, wish i could post my ultrasound!

My sister in law was the other way around she was told she was having a girl and had a baby shower and got all kinds of cute girly clothes and then 3 weeks after baby shower she had another U/S and she has a boy. It broke her heart as she now has 3 boys and can't have anymore kids. So if u r not for sure or if your tech wasnt for sure I say get another U/S done.

I'm a L&D RN and we have patients that are told their whole pregnancy they are 100% positive it's a boy and when baby comes out it's a girl. Some babies it's harder to tell than others...

I didn't read the previous posts, but I've heard it's risky to trust an ultra sound before 20 weeks. Apparently at 20 weeks, they are about 90% more accurate than the ones before 20 weeks. Also- do you have a picture of the gender defining parts? Was it a toilet shot? What I do to reassure myself when I get worried about it, is I have my gender defining parts pic and I compare it to google images of boy ultra sounds & girl ultra sounds. The picture I have looks pretty text book girl ultra sound. (The 3 distinct lines going back towards the butt, and her legs are open so it isn't a scrotum sack making the lines.) Anyway- good luck!

Did you see mine? I'm not sure about yours I go to the dr on Friday and if he tells me I'm not getting another one I'm going to make an appointment at one of those 3d 4d places I will have to pay for it but it will be worth it! Ours look way different but mine was done at 20 weeks so it's hard to tell?!?!
