my cat is obsessed with me now that I am pregnant!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it all in my head? I am pregnant with my second (5weeks) and my female cat has been all over me the past few weeks! She neve used to sleep on or even jump on the bed but now she sleeps right on top of my belly or at my feet! She has been following me around and when I sit down she demands I pet her by meowing.

Before she never payed me much mind and was more loving toward my husband. And she has never been very vocal. It's crazy how much she wants to be near me now! She didn't act this way with my first and I'm puzzled....

Yes!!! Both of my cats are this way. They take turns sleeping on my belly and at my feet. They used to sleep with my kids but now they are obsessed with me. I told my hubby we are gonna have to close our bedroom door to keep them away from the baby when he's born. I fear they may try sleeping on him!

We thought so too with my son, we got a crib tent and zipped him in so we never had to worry about the cats going into his crib, even if he wasn't in there! Turns out they could have cared less about him once he actually came out!

My cat did the same thing! She never really cuddled much pre pregnancy but during my first trimester she was constantly on me and trying to sit in my lap, lol! Now that I'm in my third trimester she's slightly ignoring me and giving all her attention to my hubby!

I have a border collie that is almost a year and a half old. Back in October is when we found out we were expecting. The day before I took the test, she jumped up on the couch and laid on top of me, which she has NEVER done before. I was still a few days away from AF's visit. I decided to test the next morning because I thought something was up for her to do that. That's when we got the BFP!!! Animals definitely sense things. Now that I'm 35+3, she follows me around like a lost puppy, refusing to leave my side. Congrats!!

I have a male neutered cat who seems confused by me. He never cuddles or anything but he always want me to pet him. He's alsoacting "cute" but rolling on his back with all 4's up and tilting his head. He must get some kind of vibe off of me.

The second I lay down on my back my female cat comes running and is on top of my bey as soon she can be! Her purring gets the baby going though! She didn't do this with my 1st but has done it consistently with this one!

I have a ragdoll cat and he is the biggest softy to my hubby but not me. For weeks I couldn't work out why he would follow me around and come for snuggles and sleeps right next to me it drove me insane. I couldn't even go to the bathroom alone he would stand and scratch the door if he couldn't come in with me. Then I found out I was pregnant so he knew before me. He has never been one to come when you call but he does for me now hehe...I'm not 33 weeks pregnant and I think him and baby will be best friends he isn't a cat to like loud noises or sharing a bed with anyone I nearly get pushed out so I don't think I'll have a problem with him and the cot

Is your cat spayed? Sounds kinda like a cat in heat.

I have cats and dogs and currently 23+5 weeks with our first baby. The dog has become my second shadow and loves resting her head on my tummy and feeling the baby kick. She'll follow me around house and won't settle until I do. My cat is my third shadow. Especially at night he has to curl up next to my tummy. Both animals started this during the Christmas festivities. I never found out I was pregnant until 2nd week in January. Animals know these things!! xx

I have a puggle (pug/beagle mix); he is normally cuddly but was more so and would constantly lay his head on my belly which I thought was silly bc he never does that (more of a leg/foot guy). My hubby told me that everytime I went somewhere my dog would stay by the door until I came home. He never does that! So I knew something was up and turns out I am 9wks along with our first and everything is looking very good! Animals are so neat!

Long story short I have two male cats that cannot father kittens. One seems to have known about me since the get go and now that i'm 16weeks the other (who hasn't slept in my bed in three years) is kicking the younger off the bed. I definitely believe animals can sense these things.

My cat has been all over me before I knew I was pregnant. I am now 23 weeks and she has not quit since. The cats have a stronger sense of smell and they can smell the hormones on you. The cat might be doing a motherly thing by clinging to you. My cat is so cute because she will lay on my tummy and purr and then my son kicks. I think he likes it.

My cats are the complete opposite. We have three, all male neutered. Bryce the youngest hasn't changed. He didn't really care before and he still doesn't. Xavier the oldest hasn't changed either. He still wants both of us to pet him equally. Now Sven the middle one, used to only care for females and me. In fact he used to hiss at my husband when Sven was next to me and my husband got too close. Now he passes by me and goes straight for my husband. Hmmmm... Very strange.

We have two pups both 3 years old, had them since birth. They have always both been very cuddly but now that my daughter has started moving in my belly our male dog will always keep at least one paw, if not both front paws, on my belly when I sit or lay down. Even if he is in the middle of eating, when I sit down he will drop his food and come put a paw on my belly. Only my male dog does this though, not my female. It really is amazing how they can sense these things. Good luck to you all!!

Yep 1 of my cats Marley is all over me. she started being this way when I was pregnant with my 1st now pregnant again and she can't get enough of me.
I read somewhere that they're attracted to the extra body heat we emit when pregnant, so they like sleeping on us more. But think it's more than that, she just seems to want 2 be with me, under my feet all the time always sitting at my shoulder when I'm on the couch and even taken to leaping into my arms wen I ignore her! Lol. My dog is acting clingy too! She's a rottweiler so il b in trouble if she starts leaping into my arms too! Haha! The dog was like this just before I went into labour last time. Won't leave my side, tries to follow me to the toilet or lie next to the bath when I'm in it and howls if I go upstairs where she can't see me! I'm only 14weeks now so the dogs gonna be clingy for awile yet! :) Im enjoying the adoration tho lol x

My parents have a cat that normally sleeps in her own bed, but the moment someone gets sick she sleeps with them till they're better. She then goes back to sleeping in her bed. I think cats & dogs are probably able to smell or sense the change in our body chemistry or something. It attracts them to give or want more attention. I have a new kitten, but he always wants attention when he's not sleeping. =)
