self induced...

how many ladies have accidently or purposely self induced themselves by nipple stimulation?
either using a pump, hand expressing, whilst having sex? any simulation! lol

I have a previous post about hand expressing my colostrum... (recommend by my Dr) but now I've become worried ill send myself into labour, I'm almost 38weeks.

has this happened to anyone, or anyone you know?

nipple stimulation will bring on contractions because it releases oxytocin into your system, However it will not start labour until baby/body is ready for it to happen, I know pregnant mums who are still breastfeeding at 38 weeks

could be a few reasons like trying to help your body get ready for labor without drugs.

or possibly to help with bf after birth.

that doesn't sound like the best idea? I wonder why ur Dr said that, maybe to help induce labour but it won't work unless ur baby is ready anyway. your body doesn't need help getting your milk in that will happen a few days after birth anywau

oh good :) - well she asked me to hand express and store my colostrum because it would help breast feeding after birth & I started leaking it and didn't want it going to waste, she also said having plenty stored will help reduce the need of formula incase baby has trouble latching at first or other problems occur I have my colostrum ready to go then and there, I'm a ftm, so I never questioned my drs judgement but now after a little research I'm a tad nervous about it...

I had express every other day or so. I am already getting engorged with colostrum. It hurts and my boobs get quite large when they are full. I am 28w4d and I've been doing it for about two weeks. I only self express until I feel some relief.

remember that your body knows what its doing. its very rare for a women to actually not produce enough milk or for their milk not to come in, so u don't rly need to pump now. also if u express a large amount it could cause contractions

btw most women will leek some colostrum during their pregancy. just cuz your leeking it dosnt mean u need to exspress it. as others have said it can lead to pre term labour. so I personally wouldnt risk it. the chances of somthing going went due to baby coming early is a possibility. so dont risk it. x
