This groups is to provide support, friendship and encouragement to all parents with children with December 2012 birthdays.
A little background on me:
I'm 20 years old.
My entire life I wanted to be a forensic anthropologist working with the fbi on human remains. I want a Doctrine in this field.
I am currently enrolled in school for wedding/event planning. (An idea I had that I thought I'd like.) My other huge passion in life that i couldnt live without it photography. I will be attending school officially when I move to Virginia Beach, VA. It lets me express myself freely and makes me feel peace.
My son, Chase, was born on 12/12/12 just three days before my 20th birthday. It was a wednesday. He spent the first day of his life with me & the second day he was rushed to the nicu. Sunday, dec 16th thankfully we were cleared to bring him home.
Now, what I want your opinion on is this:
While looking at a friends facebook page I was drawn to her photos of her 9 month old son. He was diagnosed with a heart condition which meant he'd need life saving surgery. He then blessed us a month early. He lived in the nicu the first four months of his life. When he came home, even though he was the size of a newborn, he didn't look like one (like the little wrinkles, etc) so she never got newborn photos done. I was able to get Chases done when he was 11 days old. She never got that opportunity to get her son's done.
I have been tossing the idea of doing non profit 100% free newborn photo shoots in the nicu of hospitals, including free prints, edits, etc. Assuming the hospital allows it. I believe it is important to document these precious moments. Especially when the baby may not make it out of the nicu. So many families can't get those professional photos done because their baby is unable to leave the nicu soon enough. I'm so passionate about this cause because not everyone is as lucky as we were to bring our baby home so soon.
Do you ladies think this is a good idea? Would you want something like this done if you ever were in that situation? Please let me know how you feel! I appreciate it. (: have a great day!
