Hey Ladies!
Welcome to the book club! Here is a spot where we can recommend books to each other and discuss aspects of those books, without clogging up the other groups. Rather than having any sort of timeline, or stating that we are ALL reading a certain book, I will leave it open. I will post a reading list - a collection of titles that can be contributed by anyone. People who have read the books can start discussions on those books, and as you read them, join the discussion, or start your own if you are interested in discussing another aspect of it!
No spoilers in the titles please! I will do my best to remain on top of the "reading list" but it would be a great help if you could post titles AND authors please. Also, if anyone has any tips for how to get discussions started on books, those are appreciated too!

I've been trying to get on here all day, but DD has the sniffles today. She's finally napping, so let's see if I can get it out!
I LOVED this book! I really enjoyed the way it was written in the first person, but jumped around between the three main characters. I always knew who's head I was in in those subtle differences in their thoughts.
My favourite character, by far, is Aibileen. I wish that woman was my grandma. My heart hurts though, when I think of how that book ended with her having to say good-bye to Mae Mobley. In fact, I'm STILL tearing up at the thought of it. That poor girl treated like dirt by her own mother, and Aibileen there, as her caregiver, having to leave her. I admire Aibileen. In her attempt to give Mae Mobley confidence. In her attempt to educate Mae Mobley on skin colour, before people like her horrendous teacher can taint her.
My favourite part of the whole book is when you find out that Hilly's MOM is the one who wrote her name down for the chocolate pie at the benefit! I almost tinkled I laughed so hard!!
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to come back to this, DD is awake (shortest nap ever. Poor thing is so congested!), but hopefully it's enough to get the ball rolling!!
