immunizations...
My baby girl isn't getting any not under the age of 2 atleast and then after that we'll see but I doubt it!! I recommend the book 'what your doctor may not tell you about childhood vaccinations' it's by a doctor and I recommend lots of research!!! Our babies immune systems aren't strong enough for all those shots at once, if you want to vaccinate I recommend spreading the shots out and not getting more than 1-2 at a time... May be a pain but is way safer and healthier for baby!!!
I found Dr. Sears alternate vaccine schedule, I want to get them all just spread out and no more than two at a time, with my first I tried to talk to my doc (who is pro pro vaccines) about the MMR and she kind of lectured me on it..kind of nervous about talking with her about spreading them out this time, but we are their moms, we can choose!..I would do my own research before making the decision tho.
oh gosh, this is going to get ugly lol!! people are very opinionated on this. I will absolutely get regular scheduled shots for my new dd. and that is coming from a mother of an extremely severe autistic child. I know for a fact that his autism had absolutely nothing to do with vaccines like some people think. I knew long before he even had his 1st shot. although, to each their own...
yes this could get ugly lol, so let me add, everyone be nice!!! we all have our own opinions :)
I can see both sides which is why I am having a hard time deciding what to do. I've done some research. I did not give my son the Hep b shot yet. still debating it. but that's all that is recommended so far till he's a little older, I think 2 months? I think I want to do most of the vaccines, but spread them out... and not do the mmr till he is 5. I agree that its a lot for their little bodies to take this young, but I also don't want him getting super sick. I am ebf so he is getting all my antibodies, wondering how long that lasts? till I stop?

As a healthy adult with a full immune system I would not get more then one vaccine at a time so I am not going to be letting my newborn get more then that. He will be getting them just not at once and I won't be starting till 3 months.
I will be getting all the ones that are recommended but for the flu shoot. Everyone I know who gets the shot gets the flu, I never get the shot and I get the flu maybe once every 3 4 years.

my other 2 children did totally fine with the Dr's schedule so I can't see it being any different with this one. I recently read that if there is a link that it happens with kids that have a predisposition.
I'll be on a delayed schedule, one at a time, (breaking up the big combo shots.) I'm iffy on the flu shot too, I never get the flu shot, but my doc is insistent saying that she has seen kids die from the flu. The whole thing is so freaking scary and frustrating.
There are pros and cons but to me the pros outweigh the cons so I'm getting them forsure. I agree I couldn't live with myself if she got something that was preventable and the things were vaccinating against can be fatal. I am however choosing not to do flu and possibly not chickenpox
We all got the vaccines as babies I'm fine and I didn't get sick I've never even had the chicken pox because I was vaccinated. My son is getting his first round of shots in may its going to break my heart to see him get them but they are important. The reason you don't see the illnesses as much is because of the vaccines. I even just recently had the pertussis diphtheria shot so I can't spread it to him
Nope. Never. Not one. And I'll add the fact that it has nothing to do with Autism and whether or not it's caused by vaccines. If I though that I would just vaccinate and skip the combo shots and order them separately. For those who THINK that vaccines cause Autism, it's said that the mercury is to blame. The more vaccines they shove into a single shot the more preservatives are needed (mercury) so by this rationale, get the single shots and problem solved. That being said...we still don't vaccinate.
I will be giving my little guy all
His needles. His big sister got them and is perfect.
I would rather prevent him from getting sick if I can. Especially when they can be life threatening.

Paxton will be vaccinated, but on a delayed schedule, 1-2 at a time. His doctor actually recommends it that way and vaccinated her kids on the delayed schedule as well. My state lets parents decline/delay for any reason as long as a doctor signs off saying they've gone over the reasons with you and you're making an informed decision. I contemplated declining, but I'm just not comfortable for some reason. Doing them on a slower schedule makes me feel a bit better. My worries aren't about Autism, just don't want to overwhelm his little system. The schedule we're following starts HepB at 9 months, I declined it in the hospital.
I am usually not one to judge, but if you are not vaccinating your child, you are ignorant. I did all the research, read many books including some of the previously mentioned ones and vaccines are important. All the studies of vaccines linking to autism and so on have been discredited. Be a responsible member of society, vaccinate your kids!
@lbzb, the book I got the initial schedule through is the Dr. Sears vaccination book. I can't recall the name off hand. I mentioned it to my son's doc, and she had her own version that was similar, but a little more accelerated, so I went with hers.
Pp, just because someone read up on vaccinations and came to a different conclusion than you did, that doesn't make them ignorant. Look up the definition of the word "ignorant." The way you just used it makes YOU look ignorant.

Lindsloups, I am floored at the thought of you calling me ignorant! The March group has always been above such childish name calling. I, too, have done extensive reading, research, interviewing, etc. (continual, I might add) and we have chosen not to vaccinate. You didn't even ASK why we chose not to vaccinate...you have NO idea why we have come to that decision. There are many reasons why people choose not to vaccinate ie: medical (adverse reactions), religious, personal, etc. Before you call someone ignorant you should fully understand their motives, position, and reasoning. I would NEVER be so arrogant and flip to call someone ignorant for having a different view point.
I will be vaccinating my lo on my dr's schedule. He delays the hep b shot anyways. As far as mercury issues go, the u.s does not use any vaccines with mercury, also the 'mercury' that's supposedly in vaccines isn't actually mercury it's an extremely weak and inactive dirivative
My only other opinion is as a nurse, both pediatric and ob, we are seeing another surge in polio and other childhood illnesses and this is in direct relation to the increasing number of parents who don't vaccinate. Frankly because I choose to vaccinate my children I dont stress about them being around unvaccinated kids cuz mine are protected, and those of you who choose not to vaccine aren't hurting anyone else other than potentially your kids (and that is hypothetical of course, not actually saying you are hurting your kids by not vaccinating, just the potential risk is higher that's all). I am not attacking anyone for their choices, just make them based in sound evidence based facts and research.
The last case of Polio is from the Amish community where 4 kids were infected in 2005. The CDC linked it back to another country where the live (drink) is still given. As of 2000 the drink (live polio vaccine) was done away with and US children now get the injection as not to cause Polio. If Polio is on the rise why aren't we hearing about it? My doctor doesn't recommend the vaccine unless traveling to a country where the Polio drink is given or where high Polio incidences occur. Please elaborate on the rise in Polio and other childhood illnesses.
