DD came down with a belly bug & it wasn't good. Thankfully she's much better now 😃
I was so glad we EC, though, I would not have liked to clean up the mess if she went into nappies 😷 Even when she was ill, she did all her poos into the toilet/potty which was great. 👍

I'm Lisa, I live in Massachusetts with my hubby and 2 boys (Oliver 2 1/2 & Julian almost 5 months). I EC'd Oliver from 3 months and had huge success right from the start. In fact, EC kinda sabotaged my part time CD routine because there wasn't enough diapers to make laundry worth while. The reliable morning poop catch made me so proud, and was so much easier to clean up! I went mostly off of timing because I could never really figure out his ques. I am convinced that he had understanding and control over his elimination because of ECing. He would be dry during naps and even nights (once I weaned @ 19 months). He was out of diapers for good at 23 months! :)
Fast forward to my new LO. I was so excited to EC again! I started at like 8 weeks or so and made a few catches, yay! Then I had to go back to work and we just sort of fell off the EC wagon :( Julian is just not as easy as Oliver was. Oliver was the type of baby who peed any time you took his diaper off, so offering the potty during a diaper change was easy and successful. I'm just not sure where to start with Julian he doesn't really have any reliable ques OR timing. I think DH and I just need to learn his habbits the fast and dirty way... Go diaper free for a few days!
Well that's a snapshot into my life, I sure would love to hear from some of you and know a little about your EC story :)

Our DD is 18 months now & pretty good about telling us she needs the potty. When I leave her bum naked we go all day without any misses & she just sits on the potty herself & pees/poos. But when I put her back in undies or training pants we are having misses again (about 1-3 per day).
Did anyone have the same problem? How did you make it work with undies, too?
She obviously knows when she needs the potty, just decides that when her bum is covered she can as well pee in her pants...
Thanks for any ideas!

I haven't read anything about ecing. Just a few things in green parenting awhile ago. I have no clue what to do. I have my potty chair and I put him on today after his bath. I knew he hadn't peed for awhile. He wouldn't go for awhile but my husband suggested stick his foot in warm water and it worked. Guess I should really look at the web resources and learn what to really do lol. I'm just happy I got him to pee.

I thought it would be handy to have a list of the best websites about EC. Sites that offer tips, supplies, communities, etc.
So here I start:
Yahoo group: lots of information and just about every question has been asked & answered. I check it out quite regularly.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eliminationcommunication/
Blog of a ec-ing mummy: good patterns for training pants, good collection of other ressources (books, links, ...). I really like this one :-)

I had never heard of EC until today. I just read all the posts and have started researching EC. I'm a ftm and my little one arrives in July. I'm not sure if EC is right for us, but I'm open to everything.
Any suggestions for readings, websites and other resources would be appreciated.

We weren't planning on ecing but thought we'd try it out. And hurray we caught 2 poops in the toilet and my 6 month old couldn't be happier. Now we have to figure out his pee signs. Any insight on pee?
I'm thinking I'll keep it going but the husband and grandma are not about it. Oh well some is better then none.

So I was reading some advice online that someones grandma used to help her siblings go on the potty by taking them to the bathroom with her. Well I decided what the heck, I have been having troubles seeing her cues I might as well give it a shot. So when I had to go I grabbed baby girl up put her in the potty and lo and behold as I was going she went too! Could have been coincidence but it made me so happy.
