So i've been looking into adoption being that i am only 16 years old and i want to finish school and go on to college and ect. I pretty much have my mind sat on doing an open adoption because i personally can't provide the life i want to my child, and the babys father has nothing to do with the child now much less when it is going to be born. I just want to know form someone who has gone through giving their child up for adoption, what emotional impact i should prepare for.
When i think about it, i try to think positive and say that i would much rather see my child succeed in a happy, stable house hold with a loving family.
Than for me to be " selfish " and be the cause for the child not having everything it wants and need.
obviously i want to have a hand in the childs life, and i want to be there and watch it grow up and become an adult, but i just personally am not ready to be the parent the child deserves.
Welcome!

For anyone who has adopted a child before... where do I start? Do I go with an agency or a lawyer? Or both? How do I find the right one? Does the agency have to be in my state (PA)? At this point, I'm so confused and overwhelmed... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am 21 years old. I have a 6 month old currently who was born 7 weeks premature due to severe preeclampsia. I have gone back and forth about the decision of what to do and had decided on an abortion. I have been thinking about it for a few weeks though and am starting to think that I would like to give the baby up for adoption. I have two problems however. 1. The pregnancy will be very high risk and if my doctor thinks it's too much, then I will go ahead and get the abortion for health reasons. 2. I have read so much about open adoptions closing at the whim of the adoptive parent. I am absolutely 100% not okay with that and where I live, it is prefectly legal for them to do that! How cruel is it to give someone a baby under the pretenses that you will still be able to see the baby grow up and then to turn around and completely take the baby away from the birth mother?!? I am so afraid that if I put the baby up for adoption that this will happen to us! I just want to find a nice family who can give the baby finer things that I can not and who will be willing to be facebook friends so I can see the pictures and know what is going on in their lives and to be able to arrange visits once a year or so for the baby to be able to see his or her sibling. I don't think that is much to ask of the person I am entrusting with the child inside of me's life. Does this seem unreasonable to anyone else?

My husband and I tried to get pregnant for 5 years and with 1 MC last fall. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 yrs ago and instead of doing drugs or surgery we opted for adoption. After a little less than a year of being on the list for a child we have a wonderful 6 yr old boy. We have also since decided to TTC. I am going to play into the stigma that once you have adopted you will get pregnant afterwards lol. I'm hoping this to be true for us as well.

I live in louisiana and one day hope to adopt and I was wondering what are the rules for adopting in La? What are the requirements you have to meet to be able to adopt? And how often do they come to check on you and the baby?

Today he rang in my request to find out more about adoption and he was really lovely . We spoke for half an hour and we talked about the children he said the youngest is usually four years but I'm hoping when the time comes they'd be a younger child too . It's in the uk in the north east of England does anyone have experience with action for children
. That's the name of the agency . I feel excited and nervous we have three older children but I lost a baby two years ago at five months preg from a knot in his cord . I just want to give a child a home and this agency have quite a lot of children who have had difficulties in life like a bad home etc . But I feel closer and we have to go to the agency soon and discuss more in depth with my husband about it . Anyone got any advice for me?
