Welcome to all Choice Moms.
Here is the place where we can discuss our concerns and/or struggles with being a Choice Mom. How did you explain your choice to your friends/family and will how will you explain it to your child. What are your thoughts about Open Donors?

Happy to find like-minded women! I've decided to become one-parent family; a single mom by choice. But please don't assume I'm doing this alone, I have a good support system. I thought about this decision for years. Expecting my first child in October and over-the-moon excited and nervous too.

I was wondering how others are handling this question. While I am surprised how few times I have been asked, it still comes up.
So far I've gotten:
I didn't know you were married?
I am not
Do you know who the father is?
Yes, donor 24601
So far I answer direct questions with humour and honestly. I don't volunteer the information or give more details then needed. Most people are curious about the procedure of picking a sperm donor and I make it clear that I & one day Mr Bean are the only ones who will see the donor profile.
My nieces & nephews (6-11yrs old), haven't questioned how their single Aunt got pregnant and are more concerned about what hockey player the baby will named after. I love how accepting kids are!
What are your experiences with this question?

Hi All! Sorry I have posted in awhile but as you can see from the picture I have been busy with my new son, who recently turned 4 months! Motherhood has been "wonderfully exhausting" and I wouldn't change a second of it! Definitely more ups than downs, but that can be true of two parent families also

Hi ladies, let me introduce myself. My name is Maria and I'm 43 I have been single for way to many years and I want a family more than anything right now. I decided to go it on my own and am in the process of ttc. I bought my 'boy's' at a sperm bank and ecstatic about my selection and cannot wait to have children with this donor. It's an amazing process and a blessing that we have this available to us. Hope to chat soon.

I am 35 years old and pregnant with my first child. I never met that special guy and realized that good old biological clock may run out before I do. So after much thought and consultations with family/friends, social workers and other Choice Moms; I decided to go for it. After two tries at IUI, I am now 8 weeks pregnant! So excited and scared at the same time!
Now I am counting down to delivery and trying to find the right words for when I start telling people that I am pregnant and the questions that will follow.

So I am having a boy! Was convinced it was a girl, took a second to readjust but now very excited!
Not to concern with raising a boy with no father figure, between my dad & BIL/brother he'll have plenty of men in his life.
Now that I know the bean is a he I can start getting organized!
