Stop breathing

My 19 week old stopped breathing Tuesday night right after she fell asleep. Angle Mat went off, I flew in and couldn't revive her for close to 10 seconds. Once I did she was groggy but back to herself in 25 min or so. Went to ER. Had XRays, CT scan, urin test and bloodwork....passed it all. Transfered us to a childrens hospital. Moniters oxygen, heart and lungs for 12 hours...perfect. Has more bloodwork, EKG, EEG, passes with flying colors. So they say: it was a fluke or a seizure. They say sometimes it happens. I am so scared of it happening again. Anyone have this happen?

I am a pediatric nurse and we admit kiddos for this all the time. Infants bodies take a while to adjust and figure things out so yes, sometimes it does "just happen."

It is a mat that goes under the matress. It is a motion senser. If she doesnt breath for 15 seconds, a warning beep sounds. If she doesnt start breathing within 5 more seconds an alarm sounds

I tried screaming, slapping (not hard) her face... Finaly I picked her up and held her in front of the window AC unit and blew in her face. They taught us CPR at the hospital thank god.

My son did that when he was 19 days old... Ill never forget it! I drove to the.er with him in my lap... They airlifted him to a hospital 45 min away and I had to drive there... After all these tests and 4 days in the PICU the doctors said he was like a fainting goat.. And for some reason unknown babies sometimes get to tired and just decide to stop breathing.... I didnt sleep for months waiting to see if he would do it again he never did but trust me I know how scary it is.... Hope your lo doesnt do it again

you can buy it on-line from Target, wal-mart, babies'r'us. We ordered ours on the weekend, hoping to receive it by the end of this week.

my son just turned one, and we still use his movement monitor! his has gone off a couple times but when I get in there he is breathing.. so I dunno what happened :( my heart drops when it goes off. the doctor said I should quit using the monitor when I told him it has gone off a few times, but I don't see that happening!! I'm glad your baby is doing good. they sure know how to scare us!

You can also get them on Amazon, Babies R Us, they range in price. We have a video moniter already so we just got the basic unit for $85.00 at Babies R Us. We also got a Snuza Go, a portable motion senser that clips on her diaper for when she is in the car seat, swing or stroller. I got it on Amazon for around $80.00.
