my cervix is to short so now I'm on bedrest

Hello everyone. I'm new to this so I just though I would try it out and maybe find some others that share the similar problem. My cervix is half the size it should be so my doctor put me on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. I will be 26 weeks Friday and I'm very worried about my little man. I could go into labor at anytime so I'm trying to stay in bed as mug as possible to prevent preterm labor. I'm so worked he is going to come to soon and will he be ok. Is anyone experiencing anything like this or have you before? Thanks Amanda

Actually I am in the same situation, 23 weeks now on bedrest from 18 weeks. My cervix is measuring 1.1 cm from the original 3.9, my doctor told me to keep the pressure of my cervix by not sitting for long periods of time. It is difficult and always on my mind about preterm labor. Just remember that each day you stay in bed is one day closer to delivering a healthy baby .

You're both in my prayers!! Bedrest here too, but because placental blood flow is down & baby's growth has slowed. I'm 30 wks., we may have to deliver at 32.

I'm so sorry that you guys are going through this. I'm on bed rest right now to because of previa and some bleeding. I'm 19.5 weeks. Stay in bed and try to think positive. And tell those babies to stay put. :)

I was on hospital bedrest for 10 weeks with my previous pregnancy due to dilation/shortening of the cervix and funnelling of the amniotic membrane. My bed was on a 30 degree incline and I only sat up for meals. I was allowed to have a quick shower every day and toilet breaks. If I needed to go to fetal monitoring, I was wheeled there. My cervix remained stable until the day I was booked for my caesarean @ 38 weeks.

It was a tough time but I tried to stay positive as much as possible. There were three other antenatal ladies I shared the room with (most left before me to deliver or were sent home to continue their bedrest). We all had mini breakdowns every now and then but we helped each other through it. I talked to just about everyone that came into the room including the midwives. My family and friends visited every week to cheer me up with meals and flowers. My husband was there everyday after work. I had my laptop, read, spoke on telephone and watched tv to pass the time.

We can do it. It's only a few weeks in our lifetime but well worth it. I know it seems like forever but we are strong and resilient enough to withstand it. I wish you a long pregnancy and hope that everything turns out well.

I am 11w6d with my second baby. With my first, my water broke at 31 weeks so I was on bedrest at the hoaptial for 9 days and had my baby girl at 31 weeks. I was never told why I had her so early until this pregnancy and was told at my 10 week visit it was bc I have a short cervix. So my doc put me on progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks to try and prolong the pregnancy. I was told there is a chance of me having to go on bedrest again but she would be checking the length of my cervix earlier and more often. I wish you the very best of luck! Please keep us updated!

I had a cerclage at 13 weeks for this pregnancy. I'm 32 weeks now and my cervix has remained long and closed.
